This article is for course providers who want to upload or replace the wide cover image shown at the top of their public Cademy profile or Minisite.
Recommended image size: 2,560 × 800 px, using a 3.20:1 aspect ratio.
Cademy scales the cover image proportionally until it fills the available cover area. When the image and cover area have different proportions, parts of the image that extend beyond the cover are cropped. Cademy does not rearrange the text, photographs or other design elements inside your file.
Use the recommended layout
Use the guide below when preparing your cover image. Leave roughly 15% of the canvas around the most important content. This recommended margin gives important content more room when the cover is resized and cropped, but it is not a guaranteed display boundary.
For the clearest result across screen sizes:
Extend the background colour or photograph to every edge of the canvas.
Keep logos, text, faces and other important details within the recommended content area.
Keep text large, concise and easy to read when the image becomes smaller.
Avoid placing essential details directly against the outer edges.
Check the finished cover on both a computer and a phone.
Adapt an existing design
If your existing design uses different proportions, open the original editable file and change its canvas or artboard to 2,560 × 800 px. Reposition and resize each design element so it fits the wider layout.
Important: Uploading a finished design with different proportions can crop it. Cademy scales the image proportionally until it fills the cover area. This can make the design appear zoomed in, and the parts that do not fit are cropped. Resizing a finished PNG or JPG does not rebuild its layout, so use the original editable file to reposition the individual design elements.
If you only have a finished PNG or JPG and cannot edit its individual elements, ask the original designer for the editable source file or recreate the cover for the recommended canvas.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my cover have empty, coloured or blurred areas at the sides?
Those areas are part of the uploaded image. Cademy does not create them. If they were added when adapting an existing design, return to the editable source file, change the canvas to 2,560 × 800 px and extend the actual background to every edge.
Can Cademy reposition the text or photographs inside my cover?
No. Cademy scales and crops the complete image for the available cover area. Use the original editable design file to move or resize individual elements.
Why is part of my design missing on some screen sizes?
The shape of the displayed cover changes with the available space. Cademy scales the image to fill that area, which can make the design appear zoomed in, and crops the parts that do not fit. Keep important details within the recommended content area and check the cover on both a computer and a phone.
Do I need a separate mobile cover image?
No. Cademy uses one profile cover image. Prepare the image using the recommended layout, then check that it remains clear on both larger and smaller screens.
Should I use PNG or JPG?
Either works well. Use PNG for designs containing text, logos or flat graphics. Use JPG for photographic covers when a smaller file is preferred.
