This guide is for course providers and their team who see dates in Cademy Admin in the wrong order, for example month/day/year (US format) instead of day/month/year (UK format). It explains where the date format comes from, how to change it on your computer and how to type a course date so the day and month are not swapped.
Date format: The order in which the day, month and year are shown. In US format, 12 November 2026 shows as 11/12/2026. In UK format, it shows as 12/11/2026.
Why Dates Show Month First (Americanised, US Format) When Adding Course Dates or on Orders
Cademy has no date format setting for your account or your user. Most dates in Cademy Admin are shown in the format of your web browser's language, so they can look Americanised even when your business is in the UK. If your browser uses English (United States), these dates show month first. If it uses English (United Kingdom), they show day first.
This applies, for example, to:
the Start Date & Time and End Date & Time fields when you add or edit a course date;
the Course Start Date and Course End Date columns of the Orders list;
the full date that appears when you point at a date such as Created in a list.
A few places always use UK formatting, whatever your browser uses. The course calendar view is one of them.
The format only changes how a date is shown on your screen. The saved date stays the same. Each team member sees dates in the format of their own browser.
Change the Date Format to Day/Month/Year (UK Format)
To see day/month/year, set your browser or computer to English (United Kingdom). Follow the steps for your computer. For another browser, or if the menus look different, follow your browser's help for changing its display language.
Change the Date Format in Chrome or Edge on Windows
In Chrome or Edge, open the three-dot menu at the top right and select Settings, then Languages.
Under Preferred languages, add English (United Kingdom) if it is not listed.
Open the three-dot menu beside English (United Kingdom) and select Display Google Chrome in this language in Chrome, or Display Microsoft Edge in this language in Edge.
Restart the browser, then open Cademy Admin again.
For the browser makers' own steps, see Google Chrome Help and Microsoft Edge Help.
Change the Date Format on a Mac
Open the Apple menu, select System Settings, then General and Language & Region.
Under Preferred Languages, add English (UK) with the plus button if it is not listed.
Drag English (UK) to the top of the list. Chrome and Safari on a Mac use this order.
Quit and reopen your browser, then open Cademy Admin again. If the format has not changed, restart your Mac.
For Apple's own steps, see Mac User Guide.
Check Which Date Format Cademy Now Shows
Open Courses, select New Date and choose any course (adding dates needs the Course Owner or System Admin role). Start Date & Time shows today's date. In UK format the day comes first (24 October 2026 shows as 24/10/2026). In US format the month comes first (10/24/2026). Close the window without saving.
To see month/day/year instead, follow the same steps with English (United States).
Changing your browser's language also changes the language of the browser's own menus and of other websites that follow it. If someone else in your team sees the wrong format, they change it in their own browser.
Stop a Typed Course Date Swapping the Day and Month
In the date editor that opens from New Date or a date's pencil, you can choose the day on the calendar or type it in the Type a date… box. When both the day and the month are 12 or under, a date typed only in numbers is read month first, whatever format your browser uses. For example, 05/06/2026 is read as 6 May 2026, not 5 June 2026. A date such as 24/10/2026 is read correctly, because 24 cannot be a month.
To avoid a mix-up:
type the month as a word, for example 5 June 2026 or June 5 2026; or
select the day on the calendar instead of typing it.
As you type, the calendar moves to the date Cademy has read. Check that it is the right day before you press Enter, then check the date shown in Start Date & Time before you save. For the full steps to add a date, see Add or Change Course Dates and Multi-Session Blocks.
Date Format and Time Zone Are Separate
The date format does not change the time zone of a course date. Times in the course date editor are always in 24-hour format, for example 09:00 or 14:30. Some lists, such as Orders, show times in your browser's format too, for example 9:00 AM in US English and 09:00 in UK English. To change the time zone a course date runs in, see Set Time Zones for Course Dates.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I set one date format for my whole business account?
No. Cademy has no date format setting. Each person sees most Admin dates in the format of their own browser's language.
Does changing my browser's language change my course dates?
No. Only the way dates are shown on your screen changes. The saved dates and times stay the same for you, your team and your customers.
Why does the course calendar look different from the Orders list?
The course calendar view always uses UK formatting. The Orders list follows your browser's language, so it shows month/day/year if your browser uses English (United States).
