An image is worth a thousand words, so make sure you upload at least a few for each of your courses. This article will explain how image uploads work on Cademy.
Table of Contents:
Uploading images
Upload one or more .png , .jpeg , .jpg or .gif images in an approximate aspect ratio of 16x9 . Don't worry about getting the aspect ratio perfectly right, we will do our best to zoom and position the image to fit as much of it on the screen as possible.
The aspect ratio on the course card thumbnails is 16/9, so that is the recommended size. However, on the course page, we will show the full image no matter the ratio.
Upload an image that's under 10MB in size. Do not worry about the image being too large as we generate optimised versions of your file and our website loads the optimal image based on the end users' screen.
π€ If you don't upload any image on your course we will automatically search for a stock image based on your course title and use that image on your course instead. It doesn't always work well, but we don't want to allow courses without images on your website, so a fallback is better than nothing in our view.
Set featured course image
The featured course image is the picture shown in the list of courses. It is also the largest image shown in the collage on the course page. To choose which image is featured, open the image picker modal and click on the "Star" icon under any of your images.
Rename image
You can rename any of your images by clicking the pencil icon under an image in the media selector modal.
Please note that images are listed alphabetically, so renaming one of your files may result in your image being moved somewhere else in the list.
Delete image
To delete an image, open the media selection modal, and click on the pencil icon under any of the images. Click the red Delete button to delete any image you don't plan on using.
βοΈ If you attempt to delete an image that is currently in use, you will see a red alert at the top of the page that reads You have Courses using this Media item. The alert will also tell you where that image is being used. We wanted to avoid you accidentally deleting images that are used in your courses, so instead, we tell you which course is using any particular image. If you want to delete an image that is being used, you will first have to go to the course using it, unselect the image from the media selector, and save your course. Once done, you will be allowed to delete your image.
