Remove Your Profile or Listing From the Cademy Marketplace

Cademy Marketplace is retiring: remove your provider profile, listing or an advertised course, see why searching Cademy shows few courses, and check fees.

Written by Artur Binzaru

This guide is for course providers whose business profile or courses appear on the Cademy Marketplace. Cademy is retiring the marketplace, and some parts of it have closed. The guide explains how to remove your provider profile and course listings from the marketplace, how to stop one course being advertised, what the Marketplace fee is and how to avoid it, why searching for your business on Cademy shows only some courses, and which marketplace pages and settings remain.

The Cademy Marketplace is the public directory on cademy.io that lists the business profiles created on Cademy and their courses. Your marketplace profile is the page at cademy.io/your-name. Your minisite is your own Cademy website at your-name.cademy.io. It is separate from the marketplace. The Admin Dashboard is where you manage your Cademy account.

Your minisite, the embeds that show your Cademy courses on your own website, your course management and the learning tools your learners use are not part of the marketplace, and its retirement does not include them.

Choose what you need:

  • Remove your whole profile and every course listing from the marketplace: use Hide Profile, below.

  • Keep your profile but stop one course being advertised: use the course's own marketplace setting.

  • Stop paying Marketplace fees: the fee applies only to bookings made on the marketplace, so removing your listings stops new fees.

  • Close your business on Cademy completely: hiding the profile does not close your account. See Close or Delete Your Course Provider Account.

Marketplace Settings Left in Your Admin Dashboard

The Admin Dashboard has three marketplace settings. Two are on the Profile page and one is in each course.

Remove Your Provider Profile From the Cademy Marketplace and Hide All Courses at Once (Hide Profile)

Hiding your marketplace profile removes your profile page and all your course listings from the marketplace in one step. You do not need to hide each course. It does not change your minisite, your embeds or your existing orders.

Important: Showing the profile again later does not list your courses again. On a plan that does not include the course marketplace setting, such as the Free plan, courses that were unlisted then stay unlisted.

You need the System Admin role. Hide Profile is included in the Free, Starter, Pro and Teams plans. On an Enterprise plan agreed with Cademy, Hide Profile is included only if Cademy has switched it on for your account. Otherwise the button cannot be selected. If you cannot select the button, your plan does not include it; contact Cademy Support to remove your profile.

  1. In the Admin Dashboard, select Profile.

  2. Expand Cademy Marketplace Visibility. The section shows the address of your marketplace profile page.

  3. Select Hide Profile.

  4. In the Hide Profile window, select Yes - Hide Profile.

Profile page with Cademy Marketplace Visibility open and the sections above it closed: a line with the address of the marketplace profile page, Hide Profile with its explanation and the Hide Profile button, then Profile Categories and Tags with the Categories and Tags fields; the section heading and the Hide Profile button are outlined

Cademy saves the change straight away and shows Educator profile status updated!. The section then says “Your Cademy marketplace profile page is currently hidden.”

After you hide your profile:

  • cademy.io/your-name shows Page Not Found.

  • Every course that was listed on the marketplace is unlisted.

  • A course you create while the profile is hidden is not listed on the marketplace.

  • Your minisite still opens, and your embeds still show your courses.

Show a Hidden Marketplace Profile Again

While a profile is hidden, the same section shows Show Profile in place of Hide Profile. Select Show Profile, then Yes - Show Profile. Your profile page opens again at cademy.io/your-name.

Showing the profile does not list your courses again. On the Starter, Pro and Teams plans, you list each course again with the course’s own marketplace setting, which is described under “Stop or Amend a Course Being Advertised on Your Behalf on the Marketplace” in this guide. On a plan that does not include that setting, such as the Free plan, the setting cannot be changed, so courses that were unlisted stay unlisted.

If you cannot select Show Profile and the section says “This field is temporarily restricted for new accounts while your trust score is low.”, Cademy has restricted this setting on your account and the profile stays hidden. If this does not look right, contact Cademy Support.

Choose the Categories and Tags on Your Marketplace Profile

The Cademy Marketplace Visibility section also contains Profile Categories & Tags. The Categories and Tags you choose there appear under Teaches on your marketplace profile page. They do not appear on your minisite. After changing them, select Save Changes.

Stop or Amend a Course Being Advertised on Your Behalf on the Marketplace

Use the course’s own marketplace setting to remove one course from the marketplace and leave your profile and other courses there. A course's marketplace page shows the same details you edit in the course itself, so to change what a listing says, edit the course in the Admin Dashboard.

You need the Course Owner or System Admin role. The setting is included in the Starter, Pro and Teams plans. On any other plan the options are shown but cannot be changed. On the Free plan, the way to remove courses from the marketplace is to hide your whole profile; showing the profile again later does not list them again. The setting appears only when the course’s visibility is Public or Private and your marketplace profile is not hidden.

  1. In the Admin Dashboard, select Courses and open the course.

  2. Select Edit Course.

  3. Open Settings, then select Advanced Settings.

  4. Under Cademy Marketplace Visibility, select Hide listing on the Cademy marketplace.

  5. Select Save.

Advanced Settings of the course First Aid at Work in the course editor, scrolled to the end of the page. The card Cademy Marketplace Visibility has the line “A 10% fee is charged on any sale made on the cademy.io marketplace. Learn more.” and two options: Publish listing on the Cademy Marketplace and Hide listing on the Cademy marketplace, which is selected. The top bar shows Unsaved changes beside Save. Below is the card Change Course Type. The card heading and the selected option are outlined.

The course’s page on the marketplace stops opening. The course stays on your minisite and in your embeds. The other option, Publish listing on the Cademy Marketplace, lists the course on the marketplace again.

Marketplace Fees on Bookings, and What Happens to Reviews

A marketplace booking is a booking that a customer starts from a course’s page on the marketplace. A booking from your minisite, a booking from an embed on your own website and a booking you create in the Admin Dashboard are not marketplace bookings.

What the Marketplace Fee Is and Why You Are Charged It

Cademy charges a Marketplace fee on each marketplace booking. The fee is 10% of the sale, unless a different marketplace rate is set on your account. It is charged as well as the platform fee of your plan, where your plan has one. A fee from your payment provider is separate from both. For the platform fee of each plan, see What Each Cademy Plan Includes and Costs.

Bookings that are not marketplace bookings do not carry the Marketplace fee. The fee also applies to a membership that a customer buys from your marketplace profile.

When you select Review & Accept on a request that came from the marketplace, the Summary in the window that opens says: “This request is coming from the Cademy marketplace and will be subject to marketplace fees.”

Opt Out of Marketplace Fees

You cannot turn the Marketplace fee off for marketplace bookings, but you can stop new marketplace bookings, which stops new Marketplace fees:

  • Hide your whole profile with Hide Profile, on any plan that includes it. All your courses stop being listed, and customers can no longer book them on the marketplace.

  • On the Starter, Pro and Teams plans, hide only the courses you do not want booked on the marketplace, with each course's marketplace setting.

Customers can still book on your minisite, through your embeds or by an order you create, and those bookings have no Marketplace fee. Hiding your profile or a course does not change orders already placed, including any Marketplace fee charged on them.

Find a Marketplace Order and Its Fee

Orders that came from the marketplace stay in your account. Hiding your profile or a course listing does not change or remove them. You need the System Admin role to open Orders.

  1. In the Admin Dashboard, select Orders and open the order.

  2. In the order’s details, find Purchased via. A marketplace order shows Cademy Marketplace.

  3. In the order’s totals, find Marketplace fees. The line appears when a Marketplace fee was charged on the order.

Order HT-1047 for Fiona Murray with Purchased via Cademy Marketplace highlighted in the Order section and, below the totals, Marketplace fees of -£4.50 and an estimated payout of £40.50

Reviews After You Hide Your Marketplace Profile

Reviews are saved on your account. Hiding your marketplace profile or a course listing does not delete them. Your minisite’s reviews page continues to show them unless Hide Public Reviews is turned on in Profile.

What Has Closed on the Marketplace, Including Course Search

These parts of the marketplace are closed:

  • Course search. The marketplace’s course search page does not list or search courses. The earlier addresses for course categories and collections do not list courses either.

  • Unclaimed profiles. An unclaimed profile is a marketplace profile listed for a business that has not claimed it. Its address shows Page Not Found, and its claim page does not open.

  • Suggested edits. Marketplace profiles have no form for suggesting an edit to a profile or its removal.

Only Your Free Course or Some Courses Show When Searching Your Business on Cademy

The marketplace's course search is closed, so searching on cademy.io does not find your courses. Your marketplace profile at cademy.io/your-name lists only the courses that have a marketplace page, as described under “Which Courses Still Have a Marketplace Page”. A course is missing from your profile when its visibility is not Public, or when its marketplace setting is Hide listing on the Cademy marketplace.

Courses brought in with an import start with Hide listing on the Cademy marketplace. To list a course, open its Advanced Settings and select Publish listing on the Cademy Marketplace, on the Starter, Pro or Teams plan. Your minisite at your-name.cademy.io shows your courses whatever their marketplace setting.

Which Courses Still Have a Marketplace Page

Your marketplace profile opens at cademy.io/your-name unless it is hidden. A course has a page on the marketplace when both of these are true:

  • The course’s visibility is Public.

  • The course’s marketplace setting is Publish listing on the Cademy Marketplace.

To change a course’s visibility, open the course in the Admin Dashboard and select Share. The visibility is Unpublished, Public or Private.

A course you create in the course editor while your marketplace profile is not hidden starts with Publish listing on the Cademy Marketplace as its marketplace setting.

A customer can book from a course’s page on the marketplace. Cademy records that booking as a marketplace booking and charges the Marketplace fee, explained under “What the Marketplace Fee Is and Why You Are Charged It” in this guide. If the course is set to send bookings to an external website, the booking button opens that website instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does hiding my marketplace profile affect my minisite or my embeds?
No. Hide Profile changes the marketplace only. Your minisite still opens at your-name.cademy.io, and your embeds still show your courses.

Why is Cademy Marketplace Visibility missing from a course’s Advanced Settings?
The section appears only when the course’s visibility is Public or Private and your marketplace profile is not hidden. While your profile is hidden, none of your courses has a page on the marketplace.

Does hiding my marketplace profile close my Cademy account?
No. Hiding the profile removes it from the marketplace. It does not close your account or remove your courses or orders. If you are closing your business and want to remove your content from Cademy altogether, see Close or Delete Your Course Provider Account.

Could you remove my listing from the Cademy Marketplace?
You can remove it yourself. To remove your whole profile and every course listing, use Hide Profile on the Profile page. To remove one course, select Hide listing on the Cademy marketplace in the course’s Advanced Settings. If you cannot select Hide Profile, contact Cademy Support.

I am closing my business. How do I withdraw my content and remove my profile?
Hide Profile removes your profile and course listings from the marketplace straight away. To remove your content from Cademy altogether, see Close or Delete Your Course Provider Account.
