Add Course Welcome Content for Learners

Add private course information and files that enrolled learners can find in Extra Details on the Overview tab.

Written by Artur Binzaru

Course Welcome Content is private course information and optional files shown to people after they enroll. It is not shown on the public course sales page.

Course-wide information: Everyone who can open their saved booking or order for this course sees the same welcome content. Add information that applies across the course, not details intended for only one learner.

Add or change Course Welcome Content

  1. Select Courses, then open the course.

  2. Select Edit Course.

  3. Select Settings, then Advanced Settings.

  4. Find Course Welcome Content and add the private information learners should see.

  5. To add files, use Attachments and select Select Files. You can select more than one file.

  6. Select Save. Cademy confirms the update with Course saved.

The section name follows the course keyword used by your business. For example, it may appear as Programme Welcome Content instead of Course Welcome Content.

Permission needed: Edit Course and the course editor require the Course Owner role. If the action is missing, ask an administrator for your business account to check your role.

Where learners find it

  1. Select My Account.

  2. Under Student Profile, select My Courses & Bookings.

  3. Select My Courses.

  4. Under Your Courses, select the course.

  5. Select Overview and find Extra Details.

The same route applies whether the learner placed the order themselves or someone else booked them onto the course. If files were added, they appear as Attachment 1, Attachment 2 and so on.

Depending on the learner's role and the course setup, the private course page may also show Participants or Forum. Course Welcome Content stays under Overview.

Choose useful welcome information

Course Welcome Content works well for course-wide details such as:

  • what learners should bring or wear

  • arrival, building-access or check-in information that applies to everyone

  • emergency contact details

  • travel, parking, food or accommodation suggestions

  • links to a welcome video, preparation guide or other resource

  • instructions to open the Forum, when the course has a forum

For forum setup, see Set Up and Manage Course Forums. Learners can follow Read and Post in Your Course Forum.

If the welcome content is missing

If you manage the course

  • Confirm that you used Edit Course > Settings > Advanced Settings.

  • Look for the welcome-content heading that matches the course keyword.

  • Check that either the content editor or Attachments contains something.

  • Select Save and wait for Course saved.

If you are a learner

  • Log in with the same email address used for your booking, order or registration.

  • Open My Courses & Bookings > My Courses and select the course under Your Courses.

  • Select Overview and look for Extra Details.

  • If the course or Extra Details is still missing, contact the course provider. The course provider is the organization running the course and controls its welcome content and learner records.

Frequently asked questions

Which course types support Course Welcome Content?
It is available for scheduled, on-demand, blended and on-request courses.

Can people see it before they enroll?
No. It is not shown on the public course sales page. It appears on the private course page for people connected to a saved booking, order or registration.

Do order owners and participants see the same content?
Yes. Anyone who can open their private page for the course sees the same current Course Welcome Content under Extra Details.

What happens if I leave it blank?
If there is no welcome content and there are no attachments, Extra Details is hidden. Adding an attachment without text still makes the card appear.

Can I attach files?
Yes. Under Attachments, select Select Files. Learners open them from links named Attachment 1, Attachment 2 and so on.

Can I create one default for every course?
There is no account-wide Course Welcome Content default. Duplicating a course copies its current welcome content and attachments into the new course, but later changes remain separate.

Can I update it after learners have enrolled?
Yes. Existing learners see the current saved version when they next open or refresh the course page. Cademy does not automatically notify them about the change, so contact them separately if the update is important.

Is Course Welcome Content the same as Content Access Details?
No. Course Welcome Content is general private information shown under Extra Details. Content Access Details tells learners how to use a course hosted somewhere else. For that setup, see On-Demand Courses - Self-Paced E-Learning.

Why can I not see Edit Course?
You need the Course Owner role. Ask an administrator for your business account to check your role.
