Rename Course Buttons and Forum Names

Set custom booking, course-content and forum labels for one course, and understand where each label appears.

Written by Artur Binzaru

You can replace selected customer-facing and learner-facing wording on an individual course. This lets the wording better match the action you want someone to take, without changing how that action works.

Custom Labels is available on Pro, Teams and Custom plans. You also need Course Owner access to edit the course. On Free and Starter plans, the section is visible but disabled.

Rename the labels

  1. Select Courses.

  2. Find the course and open its three-dot options menu.

  3. Select Settings.

  4. Select Advanced Settings, then scroll to Custom Labels.

  5. Enter the new wording in any of the four fields.

  6. Select Save.

  7. Open the relevant customer or learner page to check the new wording.

Custom labels are saved separately for each course. Repeat these steps for any other course that needs different wording.

Choose which wording to replace

Booking Button

The main booking button on the public course page. It replaces the normal wording, such as Book, Buy, Enrol or Apply, when that button is available. It works with scheduled, on-request, on-demand and blended courses.

The label also appears on the Full Course Page website embed and a WordPress course-detail page. Course cards and WordPress course lists keep their normal wording.

Start Course Button

The button a learner uses to open Cademy-hosted online lessons before they have started. This applies to on-demand and blended courses that include online lessons.

Continue Course Button

The button a learner uses to return to Cademy-hosted online lessons after they have made progress. This applies to on-demand and blended courses that include online lessons.

Forum Name

The forum tab in the learner course area, the browser-page title, and the welcome and restricted-access messages for that course. The course forum must already be enabled.

Use the default wording again

Clear a custom label field and save the course to restore Cademy's normal wording for that field.

  • The wording appears with the same capitalisation you enter.

  • Spaces at the beginning and end are removed when you save.

  • Each custom label can contain up to 50 characters.

What custom labels do not change

A custom label changes the displayed wording only. It does not change the button's action, destination, booking process or forum access.

  • View Course keeps its normal wording after a learner completes their online lessons.

  • The headings around the Start Course and Continue Course buttons keep their normal wording.

  • Individual date actions and date cards, lists, tables and carousels keep their normal wording, including Book and Book All.

  • Join Waitlist, Sold Out, Request a Date and Request Group Booking keep their normal wording.

  • Course cards, search and list layouts, and WordPress course lists keep their normal wording.

  • The Booking Button label is not used by the compact Feature Card website embed. Use the Full Course Page embed if you need the custom wording to appear on an embedded course page.

  • Admin dashboard wording and the Guest and Delegates fields are not renamed.

  • Changing Forum Name does not enable the course forum.

If your plan changes

If you move to Free or Starter, the saved custom labels stop appearing to customers and learners. Cademy keeps the labels, so they become active again if you return to Pro, Teams or Custom. It can take up to one minute for the public wording to update after a plan change.

Troubleshooting

Custom Labels is missing or disabled

The section is disabled on Free and Starter. To edit it, check that the account is on Pro, Teams or Custom and that you have Course Owner access. Ask an account administrator if you need either of these changed.

The old wording still appears

Check that you saved the course, then reload the page. Make sure you are viewing the same course and one of the supported locations described above. Course cards, lists, individual date actions, WordPress course lists and Feature Card embeds keep their normal wording.

The forum name does not appear

Make sure the forum is enabled for the course. Learners must also have access to the course before they can use its forum.

The Start Course or Continue Course wording does not appear

These labels apply to Cademy-hosted online lessons on on-demand and blended courses. The learner must have a confirmed booking or order, be attending the course and still have access to it. The button shown depends on that learner's progress. A booker who is not attending does not see the custom button. It also stays hidden when the booking or order is awaiting payment or approval, cancelled, or the learner's access has expired. Learners who have completed the lessons see the fixed View Course wording.
