Embed Courses or Forms on Your Website

Choose a standard website embed, configure its content and layout, then add the code and helper to your website.

Written by Artur Binzaru

Use the Standard Website Embed to display Cademy courses or a published General form inside a page on your own website. An embed is a window into Cademy content, added using a small piece of code called an iframe.

This guide is for the person setting up the embed in Cademy and the person who edits the website. They can be different people.

Why use the Standard Website Embed?

  • Show several courses, a collection, one course or a General form. A collection is a group of courses you choose to display together.

  • Choose from layouts including a calendar, with Desktop and Mobile previews.

  • Use your Cademy brand colour and course information without copying the course text into each website page.

  • Use the free Cademy Embeds app with websites that allow its iframe and helper script, including WordPress, Wix and Squarespace. Your website platform can have its own permissions or paid-plan requirements.

Customers can browse embedded course information on your website. Standard booking actions open a new tab for Cademy checkout. If a supported booking action uses External Bookings, it opens the configured external website instead.

For separate course pages inside your WordPress theme, course listings that are part of your WordPress page and SEO-friendly course pages on your own domain, compare the standard embed with Publish Cademy Courses on a WordPress Website. That is a separate plugin and setup; it is not required for the standard embed.

Before you start

  • You need the System Admin role in Cademy, which gives full access to the provider account, to open Apps and set up embeds.

  • You or your website administrator need permission to add iframe code, install the helper script and publish the destination website page.

  • Use courses intended for public display, or a published General form. A General form collects information independently of a course booking.

In Cademy Admin, open Apps, then Cademy Embeds. If it is not installed, select Install. Continue when the Embeds builder appears. If installation reports an error, resolve it before continuing.

The preview contains live Cademy content. Inspect its appearance without starting a booking or submitting a form. A form submission creates a real response and uses that form’s current settings.

Create a Standard Website Embed

  1. In Cademy Admin, open Apps → Cademy Embeds.

  2. Under What would you like to embed?, choose Multiple Courses, A Single Course or A Form. Changing this type resets the builder’s selections.

  3. Choose the content and settings described below. Select the required collection, course or form before using Get Code.

  4. Inspect the live preview. Switch between Desktop and Mobile to check the layout.

  5. Select Get Code. In Add This Embed to Your Website, choose General, WordPress, Wix or Squarespace under Your Platform.

  6. Copy Embed Code, or Embed Address for Wix. Also copy Helper Script - Once Per Site if your website does not already have it. Follow the website instructions later in this guide.

There is no separate builder Save step. The generated code or address contains your selections. To change an existing website embed, choose its intended setup, select Get Code again and replace the old code or address on every page using that embed. Then save or publish those website pages. Changing the preview alone does not update installed embeds. You do not need to replace an already installed helper script just because these selections changed.

Embed a General form

Choose A Form when you want visitors to complete a published General form on your website. Under Content, open Choose a Form… and select the form; use Search forms… if needed. Only published General forms that have not been archived appear. Then check the preview, select Get Code and add the embed using the website instructions later in this guide.

For the full steps, including how to create and publish the form and what happens after a visitor submits it, see “Website Embeds” in Create and Share a General Form.

What the embed shows: the form fields and submit button. It omits the logo, title, description and cover image, so add an appropriate heading and introduction on your website page.

To read website responses, open Forms, select the form and open Responses. Use Source → Embed. Checkout and Feedback forms are not eligible for this embed.

Configure Multiple Courses

Content

  • All Published Courses: use the provider’s published course listing, subject to its public visibility and the chosen filters.

  • A Collection: choose the collection whose courses you want to show.

Layout

  • Grid

  • Rows

  • Dates List

  • Date Cards

  • Calendar

Collections Row

Collections Row is available when All Published Courses is selected and the layout is not Calendar. Choose Auto, Grid, Carousel or Hidden.

Options

  • Only show courses that have future dates scheduled is available for every layout except Calendar.

  • Open checkout when a customer clicks a date is available only for Dates List and Date Cards. For an available date, it opens the relevant Cademy or External Bookings journey. A sold-out date opens the Cademy waitlist when enabled, otherwise its course details.

Options are hidden for Calendar. The following Search & Filters and Card Details controls are inside Options. Changing them updates the preview; use Get Code and replace the website code or address to apply them to an installed embed.

Search & Filters

In Options, open the button beside Search & Filters. The choices appear in this order:

  • Search Bar

  • Delivery

  • Location

  • Collection

  • Category

  • Tags

  • Level

  • CPD, when available

All available choices are selected by default and the button shows All Filters. Clear every checkbox for No Filters. If a visitor already has active filters or a search term in a shared address, Clear Filters can still appear so they can remove that restriction.

On Grid and Rows, the entire search and filter area is hidden when six or fewer courses are currently displayed and no search term or visitor filter is active. This includes Delivery, Level and CPD, even if you selected them.

When the search and filter area is visible, Location, Collection, Category and Tags need matching course or collection information to appear. Delivery and Level do not have that matching-data requirement. Collection is omitted when you select A Collection because the embed is already limited to it. With A Collection, Category and Tags are also unavailable in the current embed.

CPD means continuing professional development. Its filter requires the CPD feature, included in Pro, Teams and Enterprise, and CPD enabled under Settings → CPD. If either requirement is missing, CPD is hidden in the builder. When the search and filter area is visible, an eligible account can show the visitor CPD filter even if no published course currently awards CPD.

With the default labels, visitors open CPD, select Awards CPD, optionally enter Minimum CPD points or Minimum CPD hours, then select Apply. Positive decimal minimums such as 0.5 are supported. The filter and unit names follow your saved CPD labels.

With the helper installed, filtering can update the website page address. Copy the complete updated address to share it, and check that opening it returns the intended filtered list. For setup and labels, see Set Up and Award CPD Points and Hours.

Earlier layout: Search & Filters in a Multiple Courses embed. This screenshot does not show the A Form choice or CPD option; use the current choices and conditions described above.

Card Details

In Options, open the button beside Card Details. The choices appear in this order:

  • Dates

  • Delivery & Location

  • Price

  • Rating

  • Duration

  • Level

  • Category

  • Tags

  • CPD, when available

Dates, Delivery & Location, Price and Rating are selected by default, giving Default Details. Select every available choice for All Details, or clear them for No Details. If account settings hide prices or reviews, Price or Rating is disabled with Hidden by your account settings.

CPD is off by default. It has the same account-feature and enabled-setting requirements as the CPD filter. Select CPD to show a badge for a course with CPD enabled and at least one points or hours value. The badge uses the saved unit labels and is supported on Grid, Rows, Dates List and Date Cards. Courses without those CPD details have no empty badge.

Other details need relevant course data. With Dates List and Date Cards, the large date area remains; Dates controls the smaller date/time detail. Rating is not displayed on Rows or Dates List even when selected.

No Details hides the optional details, not every part of a card. The course name and image remain, dated layouts retain their large date area, and availability indicators such as Sold out can still appear. Inspect your chosen layout in the preview.

To apply these choices to an existing website embed, select Get Code and replace its code or address on each relevant website page. Save or publish the website changes.

Earlier layout: the four default Card Details are selected. This screenshot does not show the A Form choice or CPD option; available choices follow the conditions above.

Configure A Single Course

Under Content, select the intended course. Under Layout, the choices are:

  • Date Rows

  • Date Cards

  • Dates Table

  • Dates Carousel

  • Date Ticket Cards

  • Full Course Page

  • Feature Card

  • Price Card

The five date layouts are hidden for On-demand and On-request courses, which do not use scheduled dates. If you switch from a date layout to one of those course types, the selection changes to Price Card. Check the selected course and layout before getting the code.

Custom Booking Button labels

A saved custom Booking Button label is used by the main booking button in Full Course Page and Price Card, and by the booking action in Feature Card, when that action is available. Feature Card’s View action is not renamed. Request a Date, Request Group Booking, Contact Us and waitlist actions keep their own wording. The account must include Custom Labels, available on Pro, Teams and Enterprise.

Multiple-course listings and individual date actions keep their normal wording. A separate Cademy for WordPress course-detail page can use the custom booking label; its listings keep their normal wording. For label setup, see Rename Course Buttons and Forum Names.

Add the embed to your website

Choose your platform in the Get Code dialog. The website owner adds the code or address to the page and installs the helper once per site. The helper supports resizing, navigation and sharing filtered addresses; it does not make standard checkout stay inside the page. The dialog also shows short Steps for the platform you choose. If a menu name there or below does not match what your website editor shows, use the platform help pages linked in each section.

Review Cookie consent on your website in the builder with your website administrator. It also has a For Developers section for custom integrations. Adding an embed does not replace your responsibility for your website’s consent and tracking setup. For how embeds use your website’s cookie banner, see Manage Cookie Consent for Website Embeds.

General

  1. Copy Embed Code and paste it into the page HTML where the embed should appear.

  2. Ask the website administrator to add Helper Script - Once Per Site just before the closing </body> tag if it is not already installed.

  3. Save or publish the website page. Open its public address and check the content, layout and sizing on desktop and mobile.

WordPress

These instructions use the standard iframe embed, not the separate Cademy for WordPress plugin. Your account must be allowed to add iframe and script code; WordPress can remove it when the required permissions are missing. WordPress.com also requires an eligible paid plan with hosting features activated for interactive embeds.

  1. Choose WordPress under Your Platform and copy Embed Code.

  2. Edit the intended WordPress page and add a Custom HTML block. If Edit HTML is shown, select it, paste the code into the HTML editor, then select Update. If the code field is already open, paste the code there.

  3. Have your website administrator add Helper Script - Once Per Site through the site’s approved footer-script method, before the closing body tag. Do not add a second copy if it is already present.

  4. Save or publish the page, open its public address and check the embed on desktop and mobile. If code is removed or blocked, ask the website administrator to check the platform permissions.

Wix

Wix’s Custom Code area requires a published site and a connected domain. Use the Embed Address rather than pasting Cademy’s iframe code into the site-address field.

  1. Choose Wix under Your Platform in Cademy and copy Embed Address.

  2. In the Wix editor, open the page and select Add Elements → Embed Code → Popular Embeds → Embed a site.

  3. Select Enter Website Address, paste the address and select Apply. Check the embed container’s size.

  4. For the helper, open the website’s Settings → Custom Code → + Add Custom Code. Paste Helper Script - Once Per Site, give it a name, choose All pages and Body – end, then select Apply. Add it only once.

  5. Save or publish the page, then inspect its public desktop and mobile layouts. Adjust the Wix container if the content is clipped.

See Wix’s site embed instructions and Custom Code instructions for current platform details.

Squarespace

Your Squarespace plan must support iframe/JavaScript code and site-wide Code Injection. Check its Code block requirements and Code Injection instructions first.

  1. Choose Squarespace under Your Platform in Cademy and copy Embed Code.

  2. Edit the intended Squarespace page and add a Code block. Select its pencil icon to open the block editor, choose HTML under Type, paste the code and leave Display Source off.

  3. Open the site’s Code Injection area using the Squarespace instructions linked above. Put Helper Script - Once Per Site in Footer and select Save. Add it only once.

  4. Save or publish the page and inspect its public desktop and mobile layouts. The website editor alone is not the final display check.

If the installed embed is missing or shows different content, check the platform’s code permissions, the selected course/collection/form, its publication state, the copied code or address and the helper installation. After correcting the setup, save or publish the website page and refresh its public address. Ask your website administrator about host-page issues; send Cademy Support the page address, expected content and any error if the mismatch remains.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how to code?
No. You do not need to write the embed code. Cademy generates it, but someone with the correct website permissions must place it and the helper script correctly. Ask your website administrator to help if needed.

Which platform should I choose?
Choose General, WordPress, Wix or Squarespace under Your Platform. Use the named option for your website, or General for another platform that supports the code.

What is Helper Script - Once Per Site?
It is extra code that supports embed resizing, navigation and sharing filtered addresses. It also tells the embed the address of the page it is on, which the booking link passes on to checkout. Add it once per website using the platform instructions. It does not keep standard checkout inside the page.

Can I add more than one embed to my website?
Yes. Add the appropriate code or address for each embed. The helper still needs only one installation per website.

Why can I not see Collections Row or one of the Options?
Collections Row requires All Published Courses and a layout other than Calendar. Options is hidden for Calendar. Open checkout when a customer clicks a date is available only for Dates List and Date Cards.

Will customers leave my website to complete checkout?
Yes, to complete a booking. In every course embed, the booking buttons and bookable dates open Cademy checkout in a new browser tab; checkout does not run inside your page. This is the same for Multiple Courses in every layout and for A Single Course in every layout, including Full Course Page, Feature Card and Price Card. In Grid, Rows and Calendar, selecting a course first opens its course page inside the embed, and the booking button there opens checkout in the new tab. Dates List and Date Cards do the same unless Open checkout when a customer clicks a date is selected. Supported External Bookings actions open the configured external website in a new tab instead. Contact Us and Join Waitlist open their form inside the embed. A Form has no checkout: visitors complete and submit the form inside your page.

Do External Bookings work in a Standard Website Embed?
Yes, supported booking actions use the configured external destination in a new tab. Existing availability and access rules still apply. Contact Us and Cademy waitlists remain Cademy journeys. See Send Customers to an External Booking Website.

Will course changes appear automatically?
The embed reads course information from Cademy, so ordinary course-information changes do not require new embed code. Refresh and check the public page after saving; updates are not an instant-display guarantee. Changing the embed’s content selection, layout, collections display, options, filters or card details does require replacing its code or address.

How do I update an embed after changing its settings?
Open Apps → Cademy Embeds, choose the intended setup, select Get Code and replace the existing Embed Code, or Wix Embed Address, on every page using that embed. Save or publish those pages and check the result. Keep the existing helper; changing builder choices does not require replacing it.

Is the Standard Website Embed free?
Yes, the Cademy Embeds app is free. Your website platform can require a paid plan or particular permissions for code. Booking, payment-processing and other account fees are separate from embedding; see Understand Cademy Plans, Limits and Fees.

Where do I choose which filters and card details appear?
Open Apps → Cademy Embeds, choose Multiple Courses and a layout other than Calendar, then open Options. Use the buttons beside Search & Filters and Card Details.

Can I remove the complete search and filter bar?
Yes, when no visitor filters or hidden search terms are active. Clear every Search & Filters checkbox for No Filters, then regenerate and replace the website code or address. Clear Filters can remain for a previously filtered or shared address.

Why is a selected filter or card detail not visible?
On Grid and Rows, the whole search and filter area is hidden when six or fewer courses are currently displayed and no search term or visitor filter is active. This hides Delivery, Level and CPD too. When the area is visible, Location, Collection, Category and Tags depend on matching information; Delivery and Level do not. With A Collection, Category and Tags are also unavailable in the current embed. An eligible account can show the CPD filter even if no course currently awards CPD. Card details need relevant course data and a supporting layout. Price and Rating also follow account visibility settings.

Why is Collection missing from Search & Filters?
It is omitted when A Collection is selected under Content because the embed is already limited to that collection.

Why is Rating not appearing on Rows or Dates List?
Those layouts do not display Rating, even when it is selected under Card Details.

What happens when I choose No Details?
Optional card details are hidden. The name and image remain, dated layouts retain their large date area, and availability indicators such as Sold out can remain. Check the selected layout’s preview.

How do I show CPD on course cards?
Open Apps → Cademy Embeds, choose Multiple Courses and a layout other than Calendar, then Options → Card Details → CPD. The account needs the CPD feature, included in Pro, Teams and Enterprise, with CPD enabled under Settings → CPD. The course also needs CPD enabled with a points or hours value. Get Code again, replace the website code or address and publish the website changes.

How do visitors filter courses that award CPD?
With default labels, open CPD, select Awards CPD, optionally enter a positive minimum for points or hours, then select Apply. Saved labels can change those names. With the helper installed, copy the complete updated page address and check that it reopens the intended filtered list.

Why is my form missing from the picker?
It must be a published General form with a public address and must not be archived. Check it under Forms and use Create and Share a General Form for publishing instructions. If an eligible form is still missing, check the provider account and refresh the builder. Ask Cademy Support if it remains unavailable.

Can I embed a Checkout or Feedback form?
No. Checkout forms belong to a booking, and Feedback forms use participant feedback or review journeys. Use a published General form for this standalone website embed.
