This article explains how to create and manage discounts from the Discounts section in the Cademy admin dashboard. Discounts can be automatic or promo code–based and can be limited by course, checkout rules, availability, and visibility.

Accessing the Discounts section

The steps below explain how to open the Discounts section.

  1. Go to the admin dashboard.

  2. In the left-hand menu, select Discounts.

  3. The Discounts list opens with all existing discounts.

The Discounts section is also available at https://admin.cademy.io/discounts.


Creating a new discount

The steps below explain how to start creating a discount.

  1. Select New Discount.

  2. The create discount page opens.


Basic Information

The steps below explain how to name the discount.

  1. Enter a Name.

  2. Optionally enter an Internal Note.


Calculation

The steps below explain how to set the discount amount.

  1. Choose a Discount Type.

  2. Select Percentage or Fixed Value.

  3. Enter the discount value.


Application

The steps below explain how the discount is applied.

  1. Choose Automatically to apply the discount without a promo code.

  2. Choose Require Promo Code to apply the discount only when a promo code is entered.

  3. If Require Promo Code is selected, enter a Promo Code.


Applies To

The steps below explain which courses the discount applies to.

  1. Choose one option:

    • All courses

    • All courses except…

    • Specific courses only

    • Courses in specific collections

  2. Select the courses or collections required by the chosen option.


Criteria

The steps below explain how to control when the discount applies.

  1. Select Add Criteria.

  2. Choose a rule type:

    • Checkout Total

    • Checkout Spaces

    • Contact Tag

    • Organisation Tag

  3. Choose an operator.

  4. Enter a value or select tags.

  5. Add more rules or groups if needed.

Example: Discount for high-value bookings
To apply a discount only when the checkout total is over £100:

  1. Add a Checkout Total rule.

  2. Select is greater than.

  3. Enter 100.

The discount applies only when the total is over £100.
Other rules work the same way.


Availability

The steps below explain when the discount is active.

  1. Optionally set a start date.

  2. Optionally set an end date.

  3. Select a timezone.

  4. Leave both dates empty to make the discount always available.


Visibility

The steps below explain where the discount is shown.

  1. Enable or disable:

    • Show discount on qualifying course page

    • Show discount on qualifying course checkouts

  2. Optionally enter a Label.

  3. Optionally enter a Description.


Saving the discount

The steps below explain how to finish.

  1. Review the settings.

  2. Select Create Discount or Save changes.


How discounts appear to customers

Public course page

Eligible discounts appear on the public course page.

  • Discounts show under the course price.

  • Only discounts that apply to the course are shown.


Checkout flow

Discounts are applied during checkout.

  • Automatic discounts are applied on the Payment step.

  • A list shows all automatic discounts applied.

  • The Apply promo code or gift card field is used to enter promo codes.

  • The booking summary shows a full discount breakdown.

  • Visibility controls display only.

  • Automatic discounts apply even if not shown publicly.

  • Multiple discounts can apply at the same time.
