This guide is for System Admins who want to add or replace their business cover image. A System Admin is the staff role with full access to a provider’s account. The cover is the wide image at the top of your minisite, the public website Cademy provides for your business.
Prepare the design in an image editor before uploading it. The canvas, also called an artboard, is the area your finished image fills. Cademy uses one cover image across screen sizes. It scales the whole image to fill the space and crops the parts that do not fit; it does not move individual pieces of text, logos or photographs inside the file.
Recommended image size: 2,560 × 800 px, using a 3.20:1 aspect ratio. This means the image is 3.2 times as wide as it is tall. These dimensions are a design recommendation, not a required upload size.
Use the recommended layout
Use the guide below when preparing your cover image. Leave roughly 15% of the canvas around the most important content. This recommended margin gives important content more room when the cover is resized and cropped, but it is not a guaranteed display boundary.
For the clearest result across screen sizes:
Extend the background colour or photograph to every edge of the canvas.
Keep logos, text, faces and other important details within the recommended content area.
Keep text large, concise and easy to read when the image becomes smaller.
Avoid placing essential details directly against the outer edges.
Check the finished cover on both a computer and a phone.
Adapt an existing design
An editable design file lets you move its text, logos and photographs separately.
If your existing design uses different proportions, open the editable file in your design app and change its canvas to the recommended 2,560 × 800 px. Reposition and resize the separate elements to fit the wider layout, then export a new image.
A wider file needs a wider layout. Stretching a finished PNG or JPG does not rearrange its text or photographs. Uploading a design with different proportions can make it look zoomed in because Cademy fills the cover area and crops the parts that do not fit.
If you only have a finished PNG or JPG and cannot edit its individual elements, ask the original designer for the editable source file or recreate the cover for the recommended canvas.
Upload the cover image
Use these steps to choose an image already in your media library, or upload a new one. The media library stores files for your business. Uploading a file, selecting it and saving your profile are separate actions.
Before saving: Save Changes also saves other changes you have made on the Profile page. Check those changes before saving.
Open https://admin.cademy.io/profile and sign in to the correct provider account as a System Admin.
Open Profile Details.
Find Profile cover image, then select Upload Cover Image. The media picker opens.
To use an existing image, find it in the picker. To add a new file, use Drop files here or click to select and upload. Wait until the uploaded image appears in the library. If the upload fails or the image does not appear, stop and check the upload before continuing.
Check the image and its filename. Use the checkboxes beside the images to leave only the cover you want selected. When replacing a cover, check that the old image is no longer selected. Do not assume that uploading a new file has selected it instead of the old cover.
Select Confirm. The picker closes. Check that the thumbnail under Profile cover image shows the intended image. Confirm has not yet saved your profile.
Select Save Changes and wait for Changes saved.
Refresh the Profile page and check that the saved cover thumbnail is still the intended image. If the old image returns, check the selection and save result before uploading again.
Select View Your Public Site to open your minisite in a new tab. On a narrow screen, use the eye button. Check the cover at the top of the public page.
After saving, also open the public site on a phone or reduce the width of your browser window. Check that important text, logos and faces remain clear. If they are cropped, adjust the design in your image editor, then select and save the revised image in Cademy.
If the saved Profile thumbnail is correct but the public page still shows the old cover, allow a short time and refresh the public page. Do not keep uploading the same file to try to refresh the page.
If an upload or save still fails, note any message shown. Check that you are uploading an image file and read any file-size limit message. Ask Cademy Support for help with the file format, file size and message, and explain whether the problem is in the picker, the saved Profile thumbnail or the public cover.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my cover have empty, coloured or blurred areas at the sides?
Open the image file itself and check its edges. If those areas are part of the file, Cademy displays them as part of the cover. Return to the editable design, use the recommended canvas and extend the background to every edge before exporting it again. If the original file does not contain those areas, compare it with the saved Profile thumbnail and public cover before changing the design.
Can Cademy reposition the text or photographs inside my cover?
No. Cademy scales and crops the complete image for the available cover area. Use the original editable design file to move or resize individual elements.
Why is part of my design missing on some screen sizes?
The shape of the displayed cover changes with the available space. Cademy scales the image to fill that area and crops the parts that do not fit. Keep important details away from the edges and check the result on both a computer and a phone. The recommended content area is not a guarantee that every detail inside it will always be visible.
Do I need a separate mobile cover image?
No. Cademy uses one profile cover image. Prepare the image using the recommended layout, then check that it remains clear on both larger and smaller screens.
Should I use PNG or JPG?
Either works well. Use PNG for designs containing text, logos or flat graphics. Use JPG for photographic covers when a smaller file is preferred. These are design recommendations; the file must still meet the upload limits shown for your account.
