Update Your Personal Profile and Password

Change your profile picture and name, and change, set or reset the password for your Cademy login.

Written by Artur Binzaru

This guide is for learners and customers who have a Cademy login, the account you use to book courses and to open the courses you attend. It explains how to change your profile picture and name, and how to change, set or reset your password.

Personal profile: your picture, name, email address and Cademy login. This is separate from a course provider's public business profile. To edit a provider profile, follow Update Your Business Profile and Minisite.

What you can change

  • Profile picture: upload, replace or remove it.

  • Name: change your first name and last name.

  • Password: change it, set one if you log in with codes sent by email, or reset it if you have forgotten it.

  • Email address: you cannot change it yourself. Contact Cademy Support.

You make these changes in two places. My Profile holds your picture and name. Login & Security holds your password.

Open My Profile

My Profile is a tab on your My Courses page. You need to be logged in to open it.

  1. Go to cademy.io/profile. If you are not logged in, the login page opens first. Log in as described in Log In and Find Courses You Are Attending or Bookings You Made. After you log in, Cademy opens My Courses.

  2. The My Courses page has a row of tabs: My Courses, My Profile, Orders & Billing and Settings. Select the My Profile tab.

The page contains two cards: Profile Picture and Personal Details.

If the page you are on has My Account in its header, for example a page on your course provider's Cademy website, you can select My Account, then My Courses & Bookings, instead of step 1. Cademy's public pages, such as the cademy.io home page, show Log in in the header even when you are logged in.

Upload or remove your profile picture

The Profile Picture card on My Profile shows your current picture. If you have no picture, it shows your initials. The card describes the picture as “Shown on your profile and alongside your bookings.” Your picture also appears in the My Account menu and beside your posts and comments in course forums, where other people in the forum can see it.

To upload a picture, or to replace the one you have:

  1. Select Upload Photo and choose one image file. The card recommends a JPG, PNG or GIF, and says that a square image of at least 200×200px looks best.

  2. Wait for the upload to finish. The card shows a preview of the new picture and a progress bar. Save becomes available only when the upload is complete.

  3. Select Save. The message Profile picture has been updated appears.

To discard the new picture, select Cancel instead of Save when the upload has finished. Any picture you saved earlier stays in place.

If the upload fails: the card shows Profile Picture Upload Failed with the reason, such as a network problem or an upload that took longer than two minutes. Select Cancel, then select Upload Photo and try again.

To remove your picture, select Remove. This button appears only when your account has a saved picture. Cademy removes the picture as soon as you select the button, without asking you to confirm, and shows Profile picture has been removed.

Update your picture from a course forum

When you open a course forum and your account has no picture, Cademy shows a prompt titled Update Profile Picture, unless you closed that prompt during the last week. The prompt contains the same Profile Picture card. To find your forum, follow Read and Post in Your Course Forum.

  1. Select Upload Photo and choose an image.

  2. Wait for the upload to finish, then select Save.

Saving the picture closes the prompt and updates your picture in the forum. You can also select your own picture in a forum to open My Profile.

Update your name

The Personal Details card on My Profile holds your first name, last name and email address. The card states that your name appears on certificates, receipts and bookings.

The name on a course certificate is taken from the first and last name saved in your details with that course provider. To check or correct that name, see “The name on your certificate” in Find or Download Your Course Certificate.

  1. Edit First Name and Last Name. Both fields are required.

  2. Select Save Changes. The message Your details have been saved appears, and the My Account menu shows your new name.

If you also use this login in a course provider's Admin Dashboard, saving your name here changes your name there too.

Email Address is shown on the card but cannot be edited. Under the field, the card says To change your email address, please contact support. Contact Cademy Support if the personal account email is wrong. The ways to reach Cademy Support are listed in How do I get in touch with Cademy?.

If you also log in to a course provider's business account, you use the same login and the same email address there. In that case, read Change the Email Address Used for Your Business Account.

Open Login & Security

Your password settings are on the Login & Security page.

  1. Open your My Courses page: go to cademy.io/profile and log in if the login page opens.

  2. Select the Settings tab. The Account Settings page opens with two cards: Login & Security and Memberships & Subscriptions.

  3. Select Login & Security.

If the page you are on has My Account in its header, you can select My Account, then User Settings, instead of steps 1 and 2.

Under the row of tabs, the security page shows where you are: Settings, then Security. Below that is one card. Which card you see depends on how you log in:

  • Change Password with three password fields: your account has a password. Follow “Change an existing password” below.

  • Set a Password: Cademy emails you a code each time you log in, and your account has no password. Follow “Set a password for an email-code account” below.

  • Change Password with a warning and no fields: you log in through another service, such as Google or Facebook. See “If you sign in with an external provider” below.

Memberships & Subscriptions is the other card under Account Settings. For that card, follow Manage a Membership You Bought.

Change an existing password

Use these steps when you know your current password. Start on the Change Password card of the Login & Security page, which you reach with the steps in “Open Login & Security” above.

  1. Enter your current password under Current Password.

  2. Enter the new password under New Password.

  3. Enter the new password again under Confirm New Password.

  4. Select Change Password. The message Password has been changed. appears and the fields are cleared.

The password must have at least 8 characters and include an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number and a special character.

If Cademy cannot change the password, an error appears above the fields. Incorrect Password means the current password you entered is wrong. Invalid Password is followed by the reason: the two new passwords do not match, or the new password misses one of the requirements.

Changing the password changes the Cademy login connected to this account wherever you use it, including the main Cademy website and course-provider websites.

If you do not know your current password, follow “Reset a password you have forgotten” below.

Set a password for an email-code account

If Cademy emails you a 6-digit code each time you log in, your account has no password and the Login & Security page shows Set a Password. To reach that page, follow “Open Login & Security” above. Setting a password is optional.

  1. Enter a password under Password.

  2. Enter it again under Confirm Password.

  3. Select Set Password. The message Password has been set. appears.

The password must have at least 8 characters and include an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number and a special character.

From then on, the login page asks for your password after you enter your email address. To log in with a code instead, select Email me a code instead on that step.

The card keeps the title Set a Password until you reload the page. After a reload it shows Change Password, which you use for later changes. Do not select Set Password a second time before you reload: your account already has a password, so Cademy shows an error.

If you sign in with an external provider

An external provider is another service that you use to log in to Cademy, such as Google or Facebook. If you log in this way, the Login & Security page shows Change Password with this warning:

You are currently signed in with an external provider. To change your password, please use the password reset functionality provided by your identity provider (e.g. Google, Facebook).

Cademy does not show password fields for this account type because the external provider controls the password. Change or reset the password in your account with that provider.

Reset a password you have forgotten

Use these steps when your account has a password and you do not know it. You reset it from the login page with a code that Cademy sends to your email address.

  1. Open the login page at cademy.io/login. If a different page opens instead, you are still logged in: go to cademy.io/profile, select My Account in the header, then select Log out. The login page opens.

  2. Enter your email address and select Continue.

  3. On the password step, select Forgot password?. Cademy emails a reset code to that address with the subject “Cademy verification code”, and the page changes to Reset Password.

  4. Enter the new password in New Password and again in Confirm New Password.

  5. Enter the code from the email in Reset Code (from email).

  6. Select Reset Password. The login page returns to the email step with the message Your password has been reset.

  7. Your email address is already entered. Select Continue and log in with the new password.

The password must have at least 8 characters and include an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number and a special character. If the code you enter does not match the one in the email, the page shows Invalid Confirmation Code.

Forgot password? appears only on the password step. If Cademy emails you a 6-digit login code instead of asking for a password, your account has no password to reset. Log in with the code, then follow “Set a password for an email-code account” above.

Frequently asked questions

Why can I not edit Email Address?
Your personal account email is read-only under My Profile. Contact Cademy Support to request an email change.

Why is Save unavailable after I choose a profile picture?
Wait for the upload progress to finish. Save becomes available only after Cademy has uploaded the selected image. If an error appears, select Cancel and try the upload again.

Why can I not see Remove under Profile Picture?
Remove appears only when the account already has a saved profile picture.

Why do I see Set a Password instead of Change Password?
Your account has no password: Cademy emails you a code each time you log in. Set a password if you want to log in with one.

Why does Cademy tell me to use Google or Facebook to change my password?
Your account uses an external sign-in provider, so that provider controls the password. Use its password reset process.

Can I still request an email code after setting a password?
Yes. On the password step of the Cademy login page, select Email me a code instead.

Why does Cademy say my password needs a special character when it has a symbol?
Cademy counts only certain characters as special. If the only symbol in your password is a different one, such as + or =, the error says At least 1 special character. Add one of these characters: ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) { } [ ] < > : ; " ' | \ , . / ? - _

Does changing My Profile update a course provider's public business profile?
No. My Profile contains your personal account details. A provider's public business profile is managed separately.
