This guide is for people who book or take courses with a course provider that uses Cademy and want their account or personal data deleted. It explains who to ask, what to include in your request, and what happens to your bookings, certificates and payment records.
If you run courses and want to close your business account, see Permanently Delete Your Course Provider Account instead.
Your personal data sits in two places, and each has its own request:
Your Cademy account: the login you use to book and open courses, with your name, email address, password and profile picture. Ask Cademy to delete it.
What a course provider holds about you: their contact record for you, your bookings with them, your answers to their booking questions and your course records. The course provider is responsible for this data. Ask the course provider to delete it.
Can't Figure Out How to Delete Your Account or Remove Your Profile? There Is No Delete Button
Your learner account has no button to delete it. My Profile and Settings, which holds Login & Security and Memberships & Subscriptions, have no delete option. To remove your profile, close your account or have your personal data erased, you ask by email instead, as described below. This also applies to an old account you no longer use.
Ask Cademy to Close Your Account and Erase Your Personal Data (Erasure Request)
Use these steps to have your Cademy account and the personal data Cademy holds for it deleted.
Email privacy@cademy.io or support@cademy.io.
Say that you want your account and personal data deleted.
Give the email address on your account, which is the one you log in with. If you have used more than one email address, list each of them.
Cademy can ask you for more information to check your identity before it acts. Cademy replies within one calendar month of receiving your request. For a complex request, or several requests, this can be extended by up to two further months; if so, Cademy tells you within the first month and explains why.
Cademy confirms to you when your account and personal information have been removed. There is no fee, unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive. The full terms are in the Cademy Privacy Policy; Find the Cademy Terms of Service and Privacy Policy explains where to find it.
Ask a Course Provider to Delete the Details They Hold About You
If you booked a course with a course provider, or received emails from one, that provider decides what happens to the personal data it holds about you. Cademy processes it on their behalf. Send your deletion request to the course provider directly, using the Contact Us tab on their Cademy website or the contact details in your booking emails.
If you send a request about a provider's data to Cademy instead, Cademy passes it to that provider within two working days and helps them respond. If you booked with several course providers, each one holds its own record, so ask each of them. To work out who to contact for what, see Contact the Right Team for Help.
What Happens to Your Bookings, Certificates and Payment Records
When Cademy deletes your account, you can no longer log in to see your courses, bookings, orders or certificates. Before you ask, save anything you want to keep:
Download your certificates, as described in Find or Download Your Course Certificate.
Download the invoices or receipts you need, as described in Find Your Order, Invoice or Receipt for a Course Booking.
Some records are kept after deletion. Cademy keeps invoices and payment records for six years to meet accounting and tax law, can keep information needed to resolve a dispute or legal claim, and keeps a record of your request to show it was handled.
Deleting your Cademy account is a separate request from deleting what each course provider holds about you. To have both removed, ask Cademy and each course provider.
If you have an upcoming course, ask the course provider about cancelling it first. Cancellations and refunds follow that provider's own rules. If you pay for a membership, cancel it first. See Cancel or Reschedule Your Course Booking and Manage a Membership You Bought.
Only Want to Stop Emails or Remove Your Profile Picture?
You do not need to delete your account to make these changes:
Stop a course provider's marketing emails: follow the marketing emails section of Update Your Personal Details in My Profile.
Remove your profile picture or change your name: follow Update Your Personal Details in My Profile. It has one section for the profile picture and one for your name.
