This guide is for System Admins, Course Owners and Facilitators who log in to a course provider's Admin Dashboard in Cademy. It explains how to reset a password you have forgotten, what to do when the reset code does not arrive or does not work, how to change a password you know, and how to set a first password if you log in with a code sent by email.
Your password belongs to your Cademy login, not to one business account. One login opens every business account you are a user of and your Student Profile, the learner side of Cademy. A password you reset or change works for all of them. If you only book or attend courses, follow Forgot Your Password? Reset or Change It instead.
How you log in decides which steps you need:
With a password: after you enter your email address, the login page asks for your password. If you have forgotten it, follow “Reset a Forgotten Course Provider Password From the Login Page”. To change a password you know, follow “Change Your Password in the Admin Dashboard (User Settings)”.
With a one-time code sent by email: Cademy emails you a 6-digit code each time and never asks for a password. Your login has no password to reset. To add one, follow “Can't Create a New Password After Logging In With a One-Time Code? Set One in Your Student Profile”.
With Google, Facebook or your organisation's single sign-on: that service checks your password, not Cademy. Follow “Forgot Your Password but You Only Log In With a Google, Facebook or Single Sign-On Account”.
Reset a Forgotten Course Provider Password From the Login Page
Use these steps when your login has a password and you do not know it. Cademy emails you a reset code, not a reset link, and you enter that code on the login page.
Open the Admin Dashboard login page: go to admin.cademy.io. If the Admin Dashboard opens instead, you are still logged in: open the menu at the top of the sidebar and select Log Out. The Cademy login page opens.
Enter your email address and select Continue.
On the password screen, select Forgot password?. The page changes to Reset Password, and Cademy emails a reset code to the address shown.
On Reset Password, check the email address shown. Open the email sent to that address with the subject “Cademy verification code”. It contains your reset code.
Enter New Password. Use at least 8 characters, including uppercase, lowercase, a number and a special character.
Enter the same password in Confirm New Password, then enter the email's reset code in Reset Code (from email). Select Reset Password.
After the message Your password has been reset, check the email address on the login screen and select Continue. If the password screen opens, enter your new password and select Log in & Continue. If the email-code screen opens, enter the code sent for this login and select Log In.
If Cademy requires a password reset while you are logging in and opens Reset Password straight after you enter your password, start at step 4.
Can't Reset a Forgotten Password? Reset Code Not Arriving or Not Working (Locked Out)
A password reset from Cademy uses a code, not a link. The email has the subject “Cademy verification code”. Type or paste the code from it into Reset Code (from email) on the Reset Password page. Check these if the reset does not work:
The email has not arrived: check your spam or junk folder. Also check the address after We sent a reset code to on the Reset Password page. If it is wrong, select Change email. and start again with the right address.
You closed the Reset Password page: open the login page again and repeat the reset steps. Selecting Forgot password? again sends a new code.
The page shows Invalid Confirmation Code: the code you entered does not match the code in the email. Check the code and enter it again.
The page shows Too Many Password Reset Attempts or Too Many Password Reset Emails: wait a few minutes before trying again. Follow the wait message on the screen rather than repeatedly entering codes or requesting reset emails.
There is no Forgot password? link: the login page goes straight to a code screen, so your login has no password. Log in with the code from the email, then follow “Can't Create a New Password After Logging In With a One-Time Code? Set One in Your Student Profile” below.
You cannot open the mailbox for your login email: password reset and email-code login both need that mailbox. Contact Cademy Support at support@cademy.io with your login email and business name. Do not create a replacement business account to get back in.
Reset Your Password but It Still Won't Let You Log In
After a successful reset, the login page returns to the email step with the message Your password has been reset. If you still cannot log in, check these in order:
The page shows Complete Sign Up: it says Create an account for the address you typed, which means no Cademy login uses that address. Select Change email. and enter the address that was invited to the business account. Do not create another login.
The page shows Incorrect Password: check that you typed the new password. After too many wrong passwords, Cademy temporarily locks password login and shows the same Incorrect Password message even for the right password. Select Email me a code instead to log in with a code meanwhile.
Set a New Password opens: this is not a reset and does not ask for a code. Enter New Password and Confirm New Password, then select Set Password to continue logging in. See Log In to Your Course Provider Account.
You normally use Google or Facebook: on the first screen of the login page, select Google or Facebook instead of typing a password.
You are logged in, but the business account is missing or the page says You Don't Have Access To This Educator: your login works, but it has no access to that business account. Follow the checks in Log In to Your Course Provider Account.
If none of these help, contact Cademy Support at support@cademy.io with the email address you log in with and the exact message on the screen. Never send your password or a code.
Change Your Password in the Admin Dashboard (User Settings)
These steps are for a login that already has a password, when you know your current password. After you change it, you use the changed password for every business account you are a user of and for your Student Profile.
In the Admin Dashboard, open the menu at the top of the sidebar.
Under User Profile, select User Settings. The page has two sections: Personal details and Change Password.
Under Change Password, enter your Current Password.
Enter the password you want in New Password, then again in New Password (repeat). Use at least 8 characters, including an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number and a special character such as ! ? or #.
Select Change Password.
When the password is changed, Cademy shows Your new password has been set. and empties the three fields. The same page is also in Settings, where it is named User Account.
If Change Password shows only New Password and New Password (repeat), with no Current Password, your login has no password yet, and selecting Change Password shows Invalid Password: follow “Can't Create a New Password After Logging In With a One-Time Code? Set One in Your Student Profile”. If it shows You are using an external login provider and no password fields, follow “Forgot Your Password but You Only Log In With a Google, Facebook or Single Sign-On Account”. If you do not know your current password, follow “Reset a Forgotten Course Provider Password From the Login Page” above.
Error Message When Changing Your Password in User Settings
If the password is not changed, Cademy shows why:
Your new password must be at least 8 characters: the new password is too short.
Your new passwords do not match: the two new password fields differ.
An error occurred while setting your password: Cademy refused the change. A second message gives the reason: Incorrect Password when Current Password is wrong, or the rule the new password misses, for example At least 1 special character. Correct that and try again.
Can't Create a New Password After Logging In With a One-Time Code? Set One in Your Student Profile
If Cademy emails you a 6-digit code each time you log in, your login has no password. The code arrives in an email with the subject “Your one-time login code - Cademy”. You can keep logging in with codes, or set a password and log in with that.
In the Admin Dashboard, User Settings shows only New Password and New Password (repeat) for this kind of login. If you fill them in and select Change Password, Cademy shows Invalid Password and An error occurred while setting your password, and no password is set. Set the first password from your Student Profile, not with these two fields:
In the Admin Dashboard, open the menu at the top of the sidebar and select Student Profile. Your learner pages open on the business's Cademy website.
Select the Settings tab, then select Login & Security.
Under Set a Password, enter the password in Password and in Confirm Password, then select Set Password. Use at least 8 characters, including uppercase, lowercase, a number and a special character.
Cademy shows Password has been set. From then on, the login page asks for your password after you enter your email address, and you change the password later in User Settings. To log in with a code instead, select Email me a code instead on the password screen. For more about the Login & Security page, see Forgot Your Password? Reset or Change It.
Forgot Your Password but You Only Log In With a Google, Facebook or Single Sign-On Account
If you log in to Cademy with Google or Facebook, your login has no Cademy password, so there is nothing to reset in Cademy. Google or Facebook checks your password. In the Admin Dashboard, User Settings shows the warning You are using an external login provider and no password fields, because Cademy cannot change this password.
To log in, select Google or Facebook on the first screen of the login page, and use the Google or Facebook account connected to the email address that has access to the business account.
If you have forgotten your Google or Facebook password, reset it with Google or Facebook, then log in to Cademy the same way.
If your email address uses your organisation's single sign-on, entering it and selecting Continue opens your organisation's login page. Your organisation manages that password: ask its IT team to reset it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my password the same for every business account and my Student Profile?
Yes. Your password belongs to your Cademy login, so a new password works for every business account you are a user of and for your Student Profile.
Can I still log in with an email code after setting a password?
Yes. On the password screen of the login page, select Email me a code instead.
Can a System Admin of my business account reset my password?
No. System Admins of your business account cannot see or reset your password. Reset it yourself from the login page with the steps above. If that does not work, contact Cademy Support at support@cademy.io.
