Understanding PayPal on Cademy

To help you understand how PayPal works in Cademy, we've prepared a video guide. Watch it below to learn more.

A Note of Caution

Please be aware that payments for gift cards and memberships are not currently supported via PayPal. If you're planning to sell vouchers and memberships, we recommend installing Stripe.

Transaction Fees: What You Need to Know

When customers choose the PayPal option at checkout, standard PayPal fees apply, typically ranging between 1.5% to 3.2%. Additionally, Cademy platform fees apply based on your chosen plan:

Free Plan: A 5% platform fee is charged on all successfully paid transactions. This includes payments made through your Minisite, embeds, payment links, invoices, and the Cademy Marketplace, in addition to the PayPal fee.

Paid Plans (Pro, Teams): No platform fee is charged, but PayPal fees still apply.

For the most accurate and up-to-date fee information, please check PayPal’s official fees page.

Setting up PayPal: A Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Create a PayPal Account

If you don't have a PayPal business account, we recommend creating a new one via PayPal's website: paypal.com. When you create your account, you will be asked for contact, business, and banking details. The registration process should take around 5 minutes, depending on how complex your organisational setup is.

Step 2: Install the PayPal App

Once you've created your account, you'll need to install the PayPal app on Cademy. You'll be redirected to PayPal and prompted to confirm the integration authorisation. Once confirmed, you'll be redirected back to Cademy.

Step 3: Start Earning

You're done. Customers will now see PayPal as a checkout option when purchasing your services through Cademy. All purchases and resulting payments will be immediately visible in your PayPal account.

Handling Payments & Refunds

Whenever a customer purchases any of your services on Cademy via PayPal, the payments will immediately be available in your PayPal account. Cademy is also authorised to reverse a transfer. This means that you can cancel a booking in Cademy and automatically issue a refund. To read more about how we handle cancellations and refunds, please see this article.

Cademy cannot withdraw funds from your PayPal account, we can only cancel transfers issued by us into your account.
