View Lesson Progress

Check who has started or completed each lesson, view recorded learning time, open individual progress and export a lesson’s results.

Written by Artur Binzaru

Use a course’s Progress tab to check learners one lesson at a time. This guide is for course providers managing lessons in on-demand or blended courses.

To find learners by their overall course completion or recent activity, use Find Learners by Progress and Activity. To review submitted quizzes, use View Quiz Results and Mark Answers.

Open a Course’s Progress Tab

  1. Go to admin.cademy.io and select Courses.

  2. Open the on-demand or blended course, then select Progress. For a blended course, check the selected course dates before reading the results.

  3. In the outline on the left, expand the section containing the lesson and select the lesson’s name. The table on the right shows its learners and their status.

The outline contains published lessons. The number beside a lesson shows how many learners have completed it out of the registrations counted. Draft and cancelled registrations are excluded. Your course and registration permissions also limit what you can see; see Invite Team Members and Manage Their Access.

If there are no published lessons, publish the intended lessons in the course editor first. Build Lessons and Organise Course Content explains how. If the page says progress could not be loaded, refresh it; that error does not mean the course has no lessons.

View Learners by Lesson Status

Above the table, select All, Completed, Started or Not Started:

  • All: every registration included in this course and date selection that you are allowed to see.

  • Completed: the lesson has a completed progress record.

  • Started: the lesson has been opened but is not recorded as completed.

  • Not Started: no start or completion is recorded for this lesson.

If these views do not fit across the table, open the current view’s dropdown to choose one.

These are statuses for the selected lesson. They are separate from overall course Completion. The Date column shows when the lesson was completed or opened. For a learner without a start date on this lesson, it shows where they are in the course instead.

Use Search and filters to narrow the table. Selecting another status tab replaces the current filters with that view’s rules and keeps Search. Check the visible rules before exporting. For the general controls, see Filter, Sort and Save Views.

Check Lesson Time and Inactivity

The Took column means different things according to the lesson’s status:

  • For a completed lesson, it shows recorded active time on that lesson, when the full lesson was tracked. It is not the calendar time between opening and completing the lesson.

  • For a started lesson, it shows the number of days since the learner last had that lesson open. Move the pointer over the value to see the recorded date.

  • A dash means there is no time to show. In particular, lessons started before 21 October 2026 do not have a complete tracked lesson time.

Recorded inactivity does not establish why someone has stopped opening a lesson. Course-wide Time Spent, Last Seen and Last Progress measure different things; see Find Learners by Progress and Activity.

Open a Learner’s Progress Record

  1. Select the learner’s row in the lesson table. Their Registration opens in a side panel.

  2. Expand Progress, then the section containing the lesson.

  3. Check the lesson status and any quiz or form entries below it. Quiz and form entries use their names, so you can choose the submission you need.

Opening progress does not change it. To correct a lesson’s status, follow Correct a Learner’s Lesson Progress and check the effect on completion and certificates before saving.

Export Lesson Progress

  1. Select the lesson and check the course dates, Search, filters and visible columns.

  2. Select Export above the lesson table. Cademy starts generating a CSV for the matching learners.

  3. When it is ready, select Download CSV. You can close the dialog and receive the export by email when it is ready.

The export follows the selected lesson, course/date scope, filters, sorting and visible table columns. The Name column also supplies the organisation. Lesson Progress exports cannot be scheduled. For other export types and download guidance, see Export Data and Schedule Exports.

View Quiz Results and Form Responses

Quizzes and forms appear below their lesson in the left outline. Select a quiz to open its results, or a form to open its responses. These are different tasks with their own guides:

To interpret overall course completion rather than one lesson’s status, see Understand Course Completion Status.
