This guide is for learners taking an online course with a course provider that uses Cademy: an on-demand course, which you study in your own time, or the online lessons of a blended course, which also has scheduled sessions. It explains how to start the course, pick up where you left off, see when each lesson opens and is due, and fill in forms inside lessons.
Course provider: the training provider or trainer running your course. The provider uses Cademy for its courses, so the pages you see show the provider’s name and logo. The provider writes the lessons and decides when they open.
If you are not logged in or cannot find your course, follow Log In to See Your Courses and Bookings first. For the dates, venue and joining link of scheduled sessions, see Find Your Course Dates, Venue or Joining Link.
Start or Continue Your Online Course Where You Left Off
Open the course from My Account > My Courses & Bookings, under Your Courses. An on-demand course opens its Content page with the list of lessons. A blended course opens its course page: select the Content tab for the lessons.
On the Content page, select a lesson to open it. To see Start Course or Continue Course, select Course Overview in the side panel.
The course page of an on-demand or blended course shows one of these actions:
Start Course: you have not started the course content.
Continue Course: you have started but not completed the course content. It opens the first lesson in the list that you have not completed, so you pick up where you left off.
View Course: you have completed the course content and can open it again.
An on-demand course has course content without required scheduled sessions. A blended course has both course content and scheduled sessions, so check both parts of the page.
On an on-demand course, Course Info shows course information such as its delivery type, duration and level. Check Extra Details for the course provider’s instructions, files or preparation information when that section is shown.
The course and button wording can be different. A course provider can use another word for Course, such as Workshop, and can rename the Start Course and Continue Course buttons for one course. You can therefore see wording such as View Workshop instead of View Course. These actions still open the course content.
If there is no Start Course button, your place may be waiting for approval or payment, your access may have expired, or the content may be on another website. See Can't Access Your Course or a Lesson? What to Check.
If the Course Content Is on Another Website
When access is allowed, Course Access on the course page shows the instructions for content hosted elsewhere. Follow the instructions shown there. For a place linked to an order, they show only once the booking is approved and the order meets the course provider’s payment requirement. For what counts as paid, see “When You Get Your Joining Details After Booking” in Find Your Course Dates, Venue or Joining Link. If the section or its instructions are missing after that, contact the course provider. If a provider name is shown in that section, select it to open the contact form.
See When Your Next Lesson Opens and When It Is Due
To see the lesson list, select the Content tab on the course page. From an open lesson, select the back arrow at the top of the lesson. On a wide screen it is labelled Back to and the course name.
To return to your sessions from the Content page of a blended course, select My Courses above the course name, then open the course again.
A lesson can open immediately, on a fixed date, after a set time from enrolment, or around your booked date on a blended course. The course provider chooses the schedule.
For a blended course with a booked date, the Your Course card above the lesson list shows your course dates and number of sessions. Lesson opening times and deadlines linked to that date are calculated for your own booking. Learners booked on different dates can therefore see different lesson times.
Check labels such as Available in 2 days, Due today or Overdue beside a lesson. They show whether it is waiting to open or when unfinished work is due.
A locked lesson timed around your course date shows its rule under the lesson name, such as Opens 1 day before your course starts. For a block of sessions, the course start is the first session and the course end is the last session.
A locked lesson cannot be selected in this list. To see the exact opening time and timezone of a lesson timed around your course date, open a lesson that is available, then select the locked lesson in the lesson list shown with that lesson. If that list is hidden, open it with the button in the bar at the top of the lesson. If no lesson is available yet, hold the pointer over the label beside the locked lesson, such as Available in 2 days, to see its date, time and timezone. This needs a mouse.
This example shows the Content tab of a blended course, with the Your Course card and the labels beside the lessons.
If you see Awaiting Date or Waiting for your course date, the lesson needs a course date attached to your place before Cademy can calculate when it opens. Contact the course provider with your course name and the date you expected to attend. A deadline based on a missing course date cannot be calculated either.
Once a course date is attached, its lesson timings become available. Booking a date does not open every lesson immediately: a lesson stays locked until its opening time and any required earlier work are complete. If the provider changes your course date or moves you to another date of the same course, check your lesson dates again because timings linked to the course date change too.
What Overdue Means on a Lesson
A lesson due date is a completion target, not an access-expiry date. An overdue lesson remains available if your course access is still active and its opening and progression requirements are met. If you join after a deadline has passed, ask the provider how they want you to catch up.
If a Lesson Won't Let You Proceed (Quiz, Form or Required Questions)
A lesson list can show Complete the previous lesson beside a locked lesson. An earlier lesson then has required work: a quiz to pass or a form to submit. Open that earlier lesson, finish its required work, then select Complete & Continue.
Until the required work is done, the button at the end of the lesson cannot be selected and says what is missing:
Complete Quiz to Continue: pass the quiz in the lesson. Submit Answers can be selected only when every question has an answer. Your answers are saved as you go, and the quiz shows Answers last saved with the time. If the quiz shows Quiz Failed and the provider allows retakes, change your answers and select Re-submit Answers. If retakes are not allowed or you have used them all, the quiz says so: contact the course provider. If it shows Answers Submitted, the provider marks your answers, and the lesson stays locked until you pass.
Submit the Form to Continue: the lesson has a form marked Required. See the next section.
Complete the course content to Continue: finish the SCORM package in the lesson. For loading problems, see Fix SCORM Loading or Progress Problems.
Fill In and Submit a Form in a Lesson
A lesson can include a form from the course provider. It appears in the lesson under the form’s title. Complete its fields, then select the button at the end of the form. The button says Submit unless the provider has renamed it.
After you submit the form, the lesson shows Submitted with the date and the answers you gave. You cannot change your answers there. Contact the course provider if something needs to change.
This example shows a submitted form in a lesson, with the date and the answers given.
A form marked Required must be submitted before you can complete the lesson. Until then, the button that completes the lesson is unavailable and can say Submit the Form to Continue.
If the form in the lesson asks for feedback about the course, see Give Course Feedback and Manage Your Review.
Frequently asked questions
I see course content and Sessions. Which should I use?
Use both. This is a blended course. The course-content action opens the online learning, while Sessions shows when and where to attend the scheduled parts.
I cannot access content hosted on another website. What should I do?
Check that your booking is approved and paid as the course provider requires. When access is allowed, follow the instructions under Course Access. Contact the course provider if the instructions are missing or do not work.
