Blended courses combine scheduled sessions with self-paced online lessons in Cademy. The scheduled part can be in-person, online or hybrid. Learners book or are added to a course date, then use the same course page for session details and course content.
Permission needed: System Admins and Course Owners can create and edit blended courses. Facilitators cannot open the course editor. If an action is missing, ask a System Admin for your business account to check your access.
Create a blended course
Go to admin.cademy.io and select Courses.
Select Create New.
Choose the word your business uses for courses, then select Blended course.
In Description, add the Title, images and course-page content that customers should see.
Select Save.
Complete the other course-editor areas: Pricing & Delivery, Dates, Contents, Settings and Share.
You can return to the editor from the course dashboard by selecting Edit Course. You can also select Courses, open the course menu and select Edit or Settings.
Set the default price and delivery
Open Pricing & Delivery.
Under Delivery Method, select In-person, Online or Hybrid.
Add the address or online joining details shown for that delivery method.
Enter the course's default Max Spaces.
Enter the Price. Set it to 0 if the course should be free. Select Add Price if customers need another price option.
Select Save.
These are defaults for new dates.
You can give a particular date or date block a different delivery method, location, capacity, price or facilitator when you add or edit its dates.
Add the course dates
Open Dates, then select Add dates.
Select each required day in the calendar. The selected dates appear in the list.
Set the start time, end time and time zone for each date.
Under How are the dates booked?, select Individually, Block or Block or Individually. The block options become available after you add at least two dates.
If needed, select Change Default Settings, Spaces, Location or Price to change the delivery details, capacity, price, facilitators or visibility for these dates.
Select Save Date or Save Dates.
Individually: customers choose and book one date.
Block: customers book all dates in the block together.
Block or Individually: customers can book the complete block or an individual date.
A published blended course needs dates for normal booking.
If you publish it without dates, customers are prompted to join a waitlist instead.
For detailed capacity guidance, read Spaces & Dates.
Add lessons and course content
Open Contents to create the online part of the blended course. The same sections and lessons are used for learners registered on every date for that course.
Use Create and Edit Lessons and Course Content for the complete editor workflow. It covers sections, lessons, rich content blocks, quizzes, SCORM, lesson schedules, saving, previewing and copying a lesson to another course.
Course and lesson publishing are separate.
The course must be available to the correct audience, and each lesson must be Published before eligible learners can see it. Lesson schedules and completion rules may still control access.
Set course-content access and publish
Choose how long learners have access
Open Settings, then Access Options.
Under Students should have access to the course, choose Indefinitely / until removed by you or For a limited time.
If you choose limited access, enter the Number of days.
Select Save.
This default applies to new learners. To change one existing learner, open their Registration and edit Access expires. For the full workflow, read Setting an Access Limit on On-Demand and Blended Courses.
Publish and share the course
Open Share.
Choose the course visibility:
Public: visible to all.
Private: hidden and accessible with a direct link. This option depends on your business plan.
Unpublished: visible to you and enrolled users.
For a published course, use the course link or the available sharing and embed options.
Test the learner experience
Use Preview as Student from Contents to check the saved online lessons. This preview does not test a course date, booking, joining details or real learner progress.
To test the complete blended journey, create a real test Registration, Order or public booking and choose the course date. Check both the scheduled sessions and the online content.
Follow Test a Course as a Learner for the complete test process. For learner-facing date, venue, joining and content guidance, read Find Course Dates, Locations, Joining Instructions and Content.
Review registrations and lesson progress
Open Registrants on the course dashboard to review people registered for the course dates.
Open Lesson Progress to review learners across the course content.
To review or correct one learner, open their Registration and expand Lesson Progress.
For the complete correction workflow and its effect on completion, certificates and CPD, read Change a Learner's Lesson Progress.
Frequently asked questions
How is a blended course different from other course types?
A blended course has both scheduled dates and online lessons. An on-demand course has online lessons without a required course date. A course set to On set dates has scheduled sessions without the Contents area.
Why can I not see Create New or Edit Course?
System Admins and Course Owners can create and edit blended courses. Facilitators cannot open the course editor. Ask a System Admin for your business account to check your access.
Why does the public course page show a waitlist?
Check that the blended course has at least one future bookable date. A published blended course without dates prompts customers to join a waitlist.
Can different dates have different prices, locations or capacity?
Yes. The values in Pricing & Delivery are defaults. Add or edit the dates, then use Change Default Settings, Spaces, Location or Price to set different values for that date or block.
Why can a registered learner not see a lesson?
Check that the learner has the correct Registration for the course date, the lesson is Published, its release schedule has been reached, any previous-lesson requirement is complete, their course access has not expired, and the course is not archived.
Can I reuse a lesson in another blended or on-demand course?
Yes. Open the lesson's actions and select Copy to Course…. The copy arrives as a Draft in the destination course. Follow Create and Edit Lessons and Course Content for the complete steps and warnings.
Can I change an existing course to or from Blended?
Sometimes. The available changes depend on whether the course already has bookings or orders. Read How to Change a Course Type before changing it.
